Munich-based artist, Christopher Croft here in late February, 2025

April 29, 2025 Basil Hall

Former Canberran, Christopher Croft, returned to these shores recently armed with a number of exquisite plates he made on the island of Skopelos. Why Greece, you ask? We had an artists’ residency there in 2010, involving Christopher and a number of other prominent Australian printmakers, including Judy Watson, Garry Shead, Peter Sharpe, Gary Shinfield and Barbie Kjar. Mikhiel Kihlmann from Sweden was also there. Anyway, Christopher never had the opportunity to edition these plates, and we have finally got together to get them on paper. A small folio of the images will eventuate, and we’ll show you what they look like when we see them.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
