Floods-willing, Djilpin Arts from Wugularr in the Northern Territory will soon have a retrospective of around half of the 207 editions we have made together in the last 15 years. It was slated for an opening on March 21st, and I was booked to attend, but the flooding in the Top End has made physically retrieving the artworks from Wugularr almost impossible. The exhibition opening has been moved to March 27 at the Charles Darwin University’s Midpul gallery in Darwin City. Katherine is still underwater, Beswick (Wugularr) is still cut off, and a category 5 cyclone is about to cross Cape York and head for the Northern Territory, as I write this. It is tracking towards Katherine and will no doubt dump a lot more water on this part of the world. Hopefully there will be a window for the prints to be collected from the Art Centre before the next deluge.
