BHE Workshop on Melville Is for Jilamara

Jilamara Arts Co-ordinator, Jackie Hocking, holding up a first proof by Tina Patlas during Basil’s recent workshop on Melville Island. Basil was there for 5 days, worked with 21 artists and together they have made 27 new etchings. Senior artists and newcomers alike were all included. The rain on the edge of Cyclone Frances belted down for most of the week, but the weather cleared in time for Basil to depart on the small plane back to Darwin on the Friday. Further proofing and editioning will commence next month, hopefully, as most plates are ready to be printed.
