As part of the BHE exhibition opening, two artists in residence from Australia also attended, and spent two weeks working with me on new works on paper in various studios around Charlottesville. Karen Mills from Darwin hadn’t worked with me for quite a number of years for one reason or another, so why not travel half way round the world to do just that? Lisa Waup from Melbourne is an extraordinarily versatile artist, counting experimental printmaking as one of her chosen mediums. We decided to work on collagraphs, since we were required to move our studio around town according to who could fit us in. We worked at the UVA School of Art at Ruffin Hall, a community art space called Visible Records and the Centre for the Book in town, meeting some great artists, staff, students and members of the various organisations as we made and proofed our plates . Much work remains to be done back in Australia, so we hope to regroup in Canberra soon.
