Filming at BHE Canberra for St Vincents Hospital Project

September 1, 2016 Basil Hall

Today was the final day on our St Vincent’s Hospital Project, referred to in earlier blogs. Mirri Mirri from Sydney have been engaged to film the whole process from initial workshops with over 50 artists in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to the printing of the last colour on each of the 3 panels in our Canberra studio. HUGE thanks to Clinton Barker for pulling the squeegee, while Basil worked on the positives and exposed the screens. A slight tenderness in Basil’s left wrist after printing last week led to an urgent call to Clint in Brisbane. He has worked with us for ten years now, coming to us on a regular basis when we were in Darwin and now to Canberra and Braidwood. Here is Mayeta from Mirri Mirri film crew getting some shots of a nice full rack for the short video.Mayeta

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
