Tom Middlemost doing his thing at our Studio One exhibition

February 4, 2024 Basil Hall

Charles Sturt University’s Art Curator and Vice President of the Print Council of Australia, Tom Middlemost, very kindly drove over from Wagga to open the exhibition on Friday night last. He entertained the large crowd with a potted history of the studio and some nice anecdotes about his own and the University’s collection of prints. It was great that the original founder of the studio, Dianne Fogwell, was in attendance, as it was her idea (along with Meg Buchanan) to start the printmaking studio in Kingston over 40 years ago! Here is Tom in full flight at the Tuggeranong Arts podium.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
