Jessie Pangas silkscreen print

February 13, 2017 Basil Hall

Jessie Pangas completed this 10 colour silkscreen print in two days with Basil in BHE’s Canberra studio during her recent residency. She used a variety of techniques, including painted positives, reduction printing and a final charcoal drawing done on True Grain film. The Canberra studio is ideal for individual artists who want to access silkscreen equipment and a printer. We work using water-based inks and direct emulsion, enabling any artist to make a silkscreen print edition, regardless of previous experience. Photographic or computer-generated images, drawings and paintings can all be exposed and printed on paper with Basil’s help. This image was on Magnani paper (56 x 76cms) in an edition of 10.20170121_130534_resized

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
