Proofing at Merrepen Arts

March 19, 2016 Basil Hall

Nomad Art’s Angus Cameron (seen here proofing on the Merrepen etching press) and Basil have just spent a week at Nauiyu on the Daly River,  working with ten artists on a new exhibition of prints to be launched during the Telstra Art Awards period in Darwin in early August. Most of the artists here have been making etchings since the early 90s and many are already well known for their beautiful depiction of the plants and animals which inhabit the Daly River region. The 20 editions of new prints will be available individually, but up to 10 of them may also be marketed in a folio box for collectors and gallery clients.IMG_5323

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
