The new BHE studio in Canberra

May 12, 2015 Basil Hall

The as yet un-named studio is finally ready to use! After two and a half years in limbo, the silkscreen table and relief equipment has reached its destination: a new, purpose built shed in the Canberra suburb of Ainslie. Basil and his wife Pam have carefully designed the workshop in her backyard and watched it slowly appearing over the last 6 months. On Monday the truck from Braidwood unloaded the gear, which has been in storage since Basil decided against the proposed Alice Springs venture in 2013. We have several jobs lined up for doing in the new space, so it will be exciting to be able to work from home now in Canberra AND in Braidwood.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
