How can we resist one final sunrise shot from the balcony of the Milos Studios, where artists have stayed during their residencies and workshops this year? Every morning the scene is different, the colour of the water changes and another maritime day begins. Ferries, “cats” and hydrofoils come and go, fishing boats chug in and out and yachts and pleasure craft slip off to explore neighbouring islands. You can view all this (even if you slept through the 5.45am sunrise) through the panorama window in the printmaking studio as you ponder another proof of your etching, collagraph or relief print.
Enquire about 2015 workshops and residencies now through Basil Hall Editions (details on this site). Even total beginners have enjoyed two weeks in the studio uncovering some of the secrets of our wonderful medium. Likewise, some of Australia’s best-known artists have also visited Skopelos to work there with Basil Hall over the last 5 years! The studio, founded by Basil, Helen Mueller and Steph Bolt, has two etching presses and a view to inspire you. Come on over next year as a student, a tutor or a visiting artist!
