Happiness is a full rack (this should get some hits)

October 10, 2013 Basil Hall

Luckily Babbara Womens’ Centre had a full sized print rack, which local muscle was able to move efficiently up to the Art Centre, next to their etching press for Basil’s September linocut workshop. Here is an edition of Belinda’s 3 colour prints (one more colour still to be added) and the nicely cut block which made them. Each lino block was adhered to a masonite backing board and given registration tags for ease of lining up the paper each time. The only (slight) problem was an energetic gecko (or cockroach) who decided to walk dirty little inky feet across the white margins of a few prints one night. This has happened to Basil before (at Munupi Arts in the mid-90s) and never seems to faze the artists as much as the printer.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
