Back to work…in Canberra

August 25, 2012 Basil Hall

Basil Hall Editions may have moved south, but work continues on projects begun in the Top End. Basil is currently printing up editions of the “Seven Sisters” etchings by the seven Yunupingu sisters from Yirrkala. Although our new studios in Braidwood and Alice are not yet set up, the etchings are being done using the big press at Canberra’s Megalo Access Workshop. In this picture, taken in October 2011, Ruby Alderton, Annie Studd and Will Stubbs from Buku Larrnggay Arts check out an early proof we did for Djerrkngu Yunupingu during Basil’s workshop in Yirrkala.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
