Our second remote workshop for 2012 took place in late March, and Basil was accompanied by UK printmaker, Sarah Fountain. This was our first visit for 10 years to Yarliyil Art Centre in Hall’s Creek, Western Australia, so it was exciting to see the changes (they have moved across the highway into the old Shire building and canvas is booming!). Thanks to Pippa Tabone at Mangkaja Arts, we had a small press on loan and were able to concentrate on printing editions of woodblocks during our days at the art centre. We were well looked after by the artists, Jeanette Swan (Arts Development Officer) and visiting consultant at Yarliyil, Vanessa Bertagnole. As you can see, we set up in the old shire hall (sharing it one day with two visiting vets, who operated on various dogs and cats as we churned through our prints!) The artist numbers grew each day, as word got out, and it was very gratifying to see some of the younger people taking part too. By the end of the workshop, a number of sales had been made and the still-drying prints were being quickly signed by the artists
