Skopelos Residency at last! June-July 09

July 5, 2009 Basil Hall

The Skopelos Foundation has an excellent printmaking workshop as part of its extensive facilities for artists on the Greek island of Skopelos in the Sporades group.

Many Aussie artists have used the workshop, including Dianne Fogwell, Gaye Paterson, Steph Bolt, Liz Jeneid, Basil (twice) and several others. The view, overlooking the town of Skopelos and the Mediterranean Sea, is to die for, whilst the staff are most welcoming and supportive. Etching (two presses), relief (hydraulic press), silkscreen (exposure facilities and bench) and lithography are all catered for. Spring and Autumn are the best times, as a workshop program takes precedence in the northern summer months.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
