Beth works on Heron Island

February 28, 2010 Basil Hall

Well, not actually ON Heron Island! Visting printer Beth Conway has been part of the team working on Judy’s Watson’s Heron Island Suite. Involving all five printers at various times, the prints are all etchings, but many also have screenprinted information incorporated into them, reflecting Judy’s interaction with QUT researchers on the island during her residency in 2009. Here Beth is examining a single plate image she worked on, prior to it being silkscreened.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
