We occasionally offer workshops for small groups of artists when we aren’t busy editioning, out bush or collaborating with individual artists in the Canberra studio. These workshops can be in etching, relief, collagraph or silkscreen and are tailored to suit the group. The most recent was offered in collagraph and we once again looked at ways of making plates that are both easy to ink up and print and also robust and well made. Too often, collagraph plates are covered with poorly attached and chunky objects that make the whole exercise difficult and messy. Collagraphs can be as crisp and sophisticated as etchings, and can be made at a fraction of the cost without any toxic substances, grounds, solvents or acids. Here is one particularly successful collagraph by Ilona Lasmanis.
