A new etching by Lena Nyadbi from Warmun

May 11, 2020 Basil Hall

Prominent Warmun artist, Lena Nyadbi, may be in retirement in Hall’s Creek these days, but a set of her beautiful etching plates has emerged and they have been approved by the artist for printing! The plates were made by Lena at Turkey Creek in collaboration with Mats Under and Nena Zanos when they ran a workshop for Basil Hall Editions around 10 years ago. For some reason the staff at the time didn’t proceed with this one, and several more Art Co-ordinators have now been and gone from Warmun Art Centre. It is now THE TIME to launch what may well be Lena’s last print. If you’d like to get your hands on one, contact Dominic at Warmun (gallery@warmunart.com.au). They are around 50 x 40cms and printed from 3 plates. Those who know Lena’s work will recognise many of her familiar themes and symbols in this wonderful encapsulation of her well-sought after imagery.
