Sarah Ross-Thompson workshop at Basil Hall Editions in Braidwood

March 12, 2019 Basil Hall

Scotland-based artist, Sarah Ross-Thompson, has just visited Braidwood to run a collagraph workshop at our studio. She very generously shared her considerable skills by taking the 6 participants through a number of block cutting and inking exercises before giving them a chance to construct a collagraph image using the techniques they had learnt. It was fun being a participant for a change, and I enjoyed trying a medium I haven’t used very often in my own work. It sure is cheaper than purchasing zinc or copper, and the results (in experienced hands) can be just as sophisticated from a modest-looking cardboard block. Sarah is doing quite a number of workshops on her trip around Australia, so we were lucky to get her to come to Braidwood. Great food was also had by all, courtesy of the generous participants.
