Getting people to floor talks is like pulling teeth!

April 24, 2018 Basil Hall

On Saturday, Dr (and also dentist) Denise Salvestro did a floor talk at Griffith Regional Gallery to discuss the beautiful current exhibition there, entitled Balnhdhurr. We had a great crowd and Denise gave them a good history of the Buku Print Space in Yirrkala, where the work had been produced, while I added my bits about the making of some of the prints I have had something to do with over the 20+ years. We wish some of the talented Yolngu printers had been there too, but it is such a distance to come and the show is touring for a number of years.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
