Kerri Weymouth’s prints launch in Griffith

April 3, 2017 Basil Hall

Basil was invited to open Kerri’s show at Griffith Regional Gallery last weekend. Kerri, from nearby Coleambally, worked in Melbourne in the 1980s with her fashion designing uncle Ross (Weymouth) and his partner John Claringbold. This exhibition featured some of their Gown of the Year-winning creations (now held in the Griffith Regional Gallery’s collection) and Kerri’s homage to them, in the form of screen prints, paintings, assemblages and installations. The exhibition will run for a month and already a large crowd has been to admire Kerri’s fine work and reacquaint themselves with the famous gowns.Bas opening

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
