Printing underway for St Vincents Hospital Project

August 26, 2016 Basil Hall

Printing is well underway on the St Vincents Hospital Project triptych. With Clinton Barker on the one-arm and Basil on the artwork and screen preparation, beautiful things are finally happening on this exciting initiative. A film crew and our organiser, Monique Silk, will be here next Thursday to take some action shots in the studio, so we are trying to all-but-complete the job by then. Nearly 50 staff members from the St Vincents hospitals in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney took part in this, so they will be eager to see their first screen print. Clinton is seen here in the sunny Canberra workshop, pulling the first colour on one of the 3 panels. In the background is our new Merlarue proofing press.Clint and SVH

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
