Christopher Croft plates at Basil Hall Editions

April 7, 2016 Basil Hall

Munich-based Australian artist Christopher Croft (seen here working at Basil Hall Editions in 2009) is currently in the country. Although he was unable to work in the studio in Braidwood this trip, he has had us make 21 photo exposures for a series of small etching works he has been contemplating for a number of years. The beautiful pencil drawings have been exposed and partly etched on zinc plate, and the artist will complete the work and print the plates when he returns to Germany. Basil has just realised he still wears this T-shirt regularly..Croft 2009

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
