Darwin artist Karen Mills and Basil never quite got around to much collaborating in all the years he was in Darwin…so she’s had to travel all the way to Braidwood to make some colour etchings this week! She is certainly feeling the cold, but the studio is warm and the action is hotting up! We have made 5 plates already and today tried them all together for the first time. The medium is very painterly and the fact that etching is a layering process also suits Karen’s way of image construction.
We were visited today by neighbours, and great painters John R. Walker and Fiona Sivyer, who came over to see what Karen was up to.
