Sacha Nixon and Meelan Oh asked Basil to open their recent exhibition at M16 in Griffith, ACT. A healthy crowd turned out for the exhibitions in the two gallery areas at this impressive artists’ studio space. Sacha has been making some beautiful mezzotints and line etchings based on recent and early experiences and places in his life, while Meelan is currently working on a series of multi-layered charcoal drawings of flowers and natural forms she collects and incorporates into complex and expertly rendered images. A wonderful launch for two emerging artists who have to fit their art-making in between full-time work.
