Basil Hall on King Island

Nine fabulous King Island artists joined Basil and Andrew & Dianne Blake for an etching workshop at the island’s Art Centre last weekend. Dianne has already run two such workshops using her press in the harbour side facilities at Currie, the main settlement on the island. Joined by ANU PhD candidate, Denise Salvestro, the group made hard and soft ground etchings and also attempted sugar lift drawings, aquatints and dry points in perfect sunny conditions. Here Basil appears to be making a point about the acid tray before things got seriously underway. Splendid lunches were provided by members of the group and Basil hopes he gets invited back again next year. A wonderful weekend on a beautiful island.
