Jan Liesfield did this great print during my recent collagraph workshop in the Grampians in Victoria. She was one of the more experienced participants in the group of 11. Making collagraphs is quite liberating for printmakers who may have become tied down by correct technique and timing acid baths and aquatints! Jan and the group really demonstrated what fun you can have just “trying things” with paint, gesso, glue and carborundum in a painterly way. Collagraphs don’t have to be just about “collage”, as the name seems to suggest.
