Woodblock workshop at Darlington Point

Courtesy of Griffith Regional Gallery, Riverina Arts and Kerri Weymouth’s energy and dedication to art in her district, a woodblock workshop took place at Darlington Point, just south of Griffith on Sunday 22nd April. Pam and I took down a small press and a big roller and a group of nine wonderful locals from Darlo and Colly (Colleambally) bravely had a go at carving a block and printing it up in B/W and then colour. Although it was only a one day workshop, the group managed to draw, cut and print over 25 beautiful woodblocks, many of which are bound for an exhibition the group is having at Griffith Regional Gallery later in 2018. We used the large roller to make some pretty cool blends late in the day, so everyone got to see their image in colour too. Needless to say, there was plenty of laughter and some interesting stories came out as the women recalled their childhoods, growing up along the Murrumbidgee River.
