Basil Hall at Art in Miniature

Canberra group “Art in Miniature” asked Basil to open their current exhibition at Altenberg’s in Braidwood last week. Here, some of the 18 members celebrate after the official bits concluded. Basil presented Co-ordinator, Camelia Smith, with an eye chart he had constructed for the occasion, given that this collection of artists have restricted their painting surfaces to a miserly and eye-strain-inducing 100 square centimetres (or 10 x 10cms). The works on show were exquisitely detailed and beautifully hung in the gallery’s many spaces. Basil learned a thing or two about miniatures in the days prior to giving his rousing opening speech and hopes he got away with it!
