Back to Beswick to work with Djilpin Arts

May 24, 2021 Basil Hall

Pam and I travelled to Beswick via Darwin last week to run another workshop for Djilpin Arts.  The 12 new colour etchings form the tenth series of prints we have made with the Djilpin artists since 2007, and the man whose hand is shown here has been at most of the workshops – even their visit to Darwin. Frankie Lane is holding his favourite brush, made with a split reed, and he used it to paint a new image of bush foods and medicinal plants – the theme of this year’s work.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
