Basil Hall Editions at City Walk Gallery, Canberra

November 18, 2020 Basil Hall

Nancy of Nancy Sever Gallery in Canberra has taken on a smart new upstairs space in Canberra City, above King OMalley’s pub, and asked me three weeks ago if I had some prints to show! I have quickly obliged and pulled out and framed over 50 works for the gala (Covid-aware) opening this Friday at 6.00pm. Featured are etchings, silkscreens and collagraphs by Garry Shead, Jenny Sages, Judy Watson, Ian Abdullah, Dorothy Napangardi, Monique Auricchio, Paddy Sims, Basil Hall and many, many more. The Desert Mob Panel, a four metre woodblock made by 40 Central Australian artists from 40 communities in 2010 makes an appearance, as do some classic works from our Custodians Folio, a beautiful little 90th Birthday Folio of etchings by Japaljarri Sims and some recent political posters by… me! Park the car near Canberra Museum & Art Gallery, check out the show (one block’s walk away) and take yourself out for coffee or dinner in bustling Civic afterwards! See you there.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
