Basil at Grampians Brushes Workshops

September 16, 2016 Basil Hall

Basil has just run two workshops at Hall’s Gap (no relation) in the Grampians in Victoria. The first was a two day woodblock workshop in the Baptist Hall (again, no relation), similar to one he did in 2016 and the 4 day one involved etching. Twenty four participants had a great time making prints, many for the first time, while some from last year’s Brushes returned for a second time in the printmaking room. Altogether, 452 students, 20 tutors and numerous fabulous volunteers attended in 2017, making it a bumper year for this annual art-making fest. Here (pictured) is a scene of printmaking happiness, as a beautiful coloured woodblock is peeled off the press.img_5972

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
