Our second Skopelos Workshop for 2016 begins!

June 7, 2016 Basil Hall

Steph Bolt, Helen Mueller and Basil Hall set up a printmaking studio at Milos Apartments on Skopelos Island in Greece 5 years ago. Each year we have run workshops in various aspects of printmaking and working on paper and the groups this year bring the number of participants to well over 100 people in that time. In May, Australian artist Dianne Fogwell ran an extraordinary fortnight of relief printing and book making, She was assisted by Steph and shared her considerable knowledge with a very fortunate group. Now we have Basil here again to deliver his seventh etching and relief printing workshop on the island. Yesterday we kicked off with a walk up to a small church and olive grove for a drawing session on some plates Basil had prepared. This was followed by lunch at Stella’s taverna and then an afternoon session of etching and printing. In the evening the party of 14 headed for a welcome dinner at Klimataria taverna on the waterfront, rounding out a great first day!IMG_5493

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
