Did we mention the Greek Workshops?

April 2, 2012 Basil Hall

It’s getting very close now for the 20 lucky participants in this year’s BHE printmaking workshops on Skopelos in Greece! Basil and assistant Steph Bolt will meet up with our Greek host in Athens in early May to finalise materials and requirements for the June and July workshops and will then spend 3-4 weeks on the island before the first group arrives. Naturally we have to test all the food before the June group gets there and find out the best places to take everyone! There’s also the small matter of setting up the new studio, taking delivery of presses, tables and chairs and making sure everything is ship-shape after the long Winter. Here’s a view from the little church (Agios Ioannis) which featured in “Mamma Mia” (the movie, not the song) to further whet the appetite. There is technically one spot still available in the July 2-15 workshop. At $1945 for two weeks’ tuition, studio hire/use, breakfasts, two dinners and lots of fun, thsi represents great value! All you have to do is arrange your own travel to Skopelos. Accommodation is available at the Milos Apartments for around $750 for the fortnight (room for up to 3 people, bathroom, kitchenette and view of the Aegean just across the road!). ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
