In November, I was invited to do a 10 day residency and run a workshop at Laughing Waters (Garambi Baanj), near Eltham in Victoria. The site is on a bend of the Yarra River, NE of Melbourne, and is run by a NFP organisation called InPlace. Working with the local Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, InPlace, through its visionary director, Eugene Howard, gives artists an opportunity to engage with a significant site, meet other artists and create new work in a stunning location.
Pam and I stayed in one of the beautiful refurbished heritage buildings on site while I worked on new prints, inspired by the river and bush and the impressive art Eugene has collected. On two of the days, I ran a collagraph workshop for a group of Indigenous artists from around the country. David Doyle and Krystle Evans (Barkandji) came from Broken Hill, Rosie Holmes (Darwin) accompanied Phillip Guyabuka from Milingimbi and Aunty Kim Wandin (Wurundjeri) and her son came from Melbourne.
