Fancy a residency in a Skopelos studio?

January 5, 2013 Basil Hall

Although the Milos Printmaking Studio was only set up in 2012, we have already had two artists in residence in addition to the workshop program run by Basil Hall Editions last year. In August, Melbourne artist Anna Topalidis (seen here) spent some time in the new place, as did Steph Bolt, also from Melbourne. Each year from May to September, Milos Printmaking studio is available for workshops and residencies. Vacancies are fitted around prior bookings by Basil Hall, Basil Hall Editions, Steph Bolt and Sydney printmaker, Helen Mueller, who between them formed a consortium in 2011 to establish the printmaking workshop. The studio currently costs 250 Euros a week for exclusive use by an individual artist. Lower rates may be negotiated for two or more artists sharing the space. Accommodation is available upstairs in Milos Apartments, and rates vary between around $AUD40 and $AUD50 a night for a large self-contained room with bathroom and kitchenette. Supermarket and restaurants are nearby, as is an outstanding view of the Aegean below.

ABOUT BHE

For the last nineteen years Basil has run Basil Hall Editions, first from a purpose-built studio in Darwin, then from two studios: one in Braidwood, NSW and one in Canberra. In 2020 Basil moved all the equipment to Canberra. He and his team host visiting artists or travel to remote Aboriginal  communities, collaborating with over 100 artists a year, or other regional locations, offering workshops.
