For almost eight months, artists from almost every art centre in Central Australia and our printers have been working on editions of woodblock prints to celebrate the twentieth Desert Mob exhibition. Held annually at the Araluen Arts Centre in Alice Springs, Desert Mob celebrates the art of the 40 Desart-affiliated Art Centres, and is one of the most exciting art shows in the country. Geographically, this means communities involved come from the Barkly region, the Kimberley, areas to the east, south and west of Alice Springs, the Pitjantjatjara Lands of South Australia, the Central and Western deserts, the Tanami, the Pilbara and even the Northern goldfields of Western Australia. Not only are we printing editions for each of the 40 nominated artists in this project, but we are also producing the 20th Anniversary Desert Mob Panel, a large work comprising all 40 woodblocks. Artists include Judy Napangardi Watson from Yuendumu, Patrick Tjungarrayi, representing Papunya Tula, Ngipi Ward from Patjarr, Billy Kenda and Peggy Jones from Tennant Creek, to name but a few.The individual works, the Panel and boxed sets of all 40 woodblock prints will all be exhibited at the Araluen Arts Centre, where they will be on sale during the 2010 Desert Mob exhibition. The set will be presented in a beautiful bookcloth-covered solander box, decorated on the lid with a splendid example of the work of the Tjanpi Desert weavers.Only 15 Panels and 10 boxed sets will be available, priced at $6600 each. Advance orders will be taken and recorded in the order in which they are received, provided a 20% deposit has been made to demonstrate your commitment! Please contact Basil on 08 89417445 or by email info@basilhalleditions.com.au
